About

Joey is a Ph.D candidate in Teacher Education Department at the University of Helsinki.  Her primary academic interests center on talent development and giftedness, specifically regarding issues of motivational behaviors and career guidance.  She holds a BA (Dance) from the University of Adelaide, a Master in Arts (Research) degree from Queensland University of Technology, and a Certificate of Advanced Educational Studies majoring in gifted education from the University of Hong Kong.  Her research papers about talent development and dance curriculum were published at International Symposium on Performance Science and Asia-Pacific Conference for Education.  She created and taught the dance program at Singapore International School (Hong Kong) and lectured at dance tertiary institutions.  Recently, she taught dance at primary schools in Sweden. She has also co-choreographed and performed in festivals such as Dance Umbrella in South Africa and Seoul International Dance Festival.  She is a recipient of numerous Arts Professional grants and two bursary awards from the National Arts Council Singapore.
